Over almost thirty years, the Honda CR-V has become one of the most popular compact crossover SUVs in the world. In the 2020 model year, a hybrid CR-V appeared on the North American market as part of the model’s fifth generation. Now in its sixth generation, the 2024 Honda CR-V Hybrid accounts for half the CR-V range, with three amazing trims to choose from. Its eco-friendly powertrain brought new standards in performance and efficiency.
CR-V Sport Hybrid
All CR-V hybrids come with Honda’s fourth-generation 2023 hybrid powertrain. This powertrain, integrating a 2.0 L Atkinson-cycle engine, two electric motors and an electronic continuously variable transmission (e-CVT), delivers up to 204 hp and 247 lb-ft of torque. All trims are FWD with available AWD except the standard AWD Sport Touring. FWD models are impressively rated 43/36/40 mpg for fuel economy (city/highway/combined).
Other Sport features include four driving modes (ECON, Normal, Snow, Sport), a 7″ color touchscreen, 7″ instrument cluster screen, 6-speaker audio, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, cloth seats, a moonroof, and a large suite of Honda Sensing driver-assistive technologies. Examples of the latter include the Collision Mitigation Braking System, Lane Keeping Assist, Traffic Jam Assist, and Traffic Sign Recognition.
CR-V Sport-L Hybrid
Introduced in 2024, the Sport-L trim offers luxury extras like sporty Berlina Black wheels (still 18″), leather-trimmed seats, a power tailgate with programmable height, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, two-position memory in the driver’s seat, power-adjustable front passenger’s seat, an 8-speaker audio system, a 9″ touchscreen with volume knob, a wireless phone charger, plus more.
The Sport-L Hybrid is also equipped with HD radio, which lets users listen to AM and FM radio bands with appreciably enhanced audio quality. There’s support for SiriusXM, too.
CR-V Sport Touring Hybrid
The Sport Touring Hybrid features Real Time AWD with Intelligent Control System as standard, which sends power to the rear wheels when you accelerate, climb hills, or lose traction. Also available on other trims, AWD reduces the CR-V’s fuel economy a bit to a still-good 40/34/37 mpg (city/highway/combined). Drivetrains aside, the Sport Touring is the sportiest trim of all, helped by bigger 19″ Berlina Black wheels.
Other luxuries to enjoy in the Sport Touring trim include a navigation system, Predictive Eco Assist (enabled by the sat-nav system), the 12-speaker Bose Premium sound system, Wi-Fi hotspot capability, HondaLink subscription services, heated steering wheel, hands-free tailgate access, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and LED ambient lighting in the door pulls and footwells as well as the standard center console lighting.
